The commentary is a discussion between a grandfather and his
grandchildren and begins on the seashore, and then moves in
sequence up through the bush to the top of the ranges and then back
down to the sea for a look at the Marine life.
Highlight is our specially commissioned 3m tall Moa!
The display incorporates a graphical mural produced by Dane
Mitchell of FLUX, with pictures provided by the Dept of Conservation, and a variety of
mounted specimens from the existing museum collection and other
sources. DOC were responsible for providing the funding.
The
lighting and audio is sequenced to follow the commentary and will
reset to static museum setting until the next group is ready.
Designed by Grant Collie and David Seaton of LDPS NZ LTD, the technical
wizardry makes the experience come to life.
The exhibit is completed by an interactive touchscreen display of
underwater video shot by Dave Abbott of Liquid Action Images in Te Whanganui-A-Hei (Cathedral Cove) Marine Reserve.
Editing was by Chris Allen of SpikeVideo, and the film footage was paid
for by a generous grant from DOC. |
